Cania Gorge National Park

After 2 nights back home, we took off to Brisbane the long way since we were not in a hurry, touring a couple of towns along the way. We passed through Biloela which is a small country town surrounded by rich grazing and farming land as well as power generation and coal mining. After that we passed through a two horse (small) town called Thangool. Then next stop was Cania Gorge which is 244 kms from Gracemere along the Burnett Highway. I should have known about this wonderful spot before seeing as though it is not that far from home. But anyway, better late than never they say.

A nice spot to park at the picnic area.
Cania Gorge National Park is about 225 km west of Bundaberg and can be reached via Cania Road, which branches off the Burnett Highway 12 kms north of Monto or 77 kms south of Biloela. Travel through Moonford for another 8 kms to the main picnic area. The park was amazing and although we did not explore all the tracks, I am confident all the other tracks has all its surprising beauty like the one we explored.

The Overhang
We walked 3.8km (return) to see the Dripping Rock and The Overhang. It was one of the short tracks anyone can try but it was not easy. The track was winding and hilly but was all worth it for the views were astounding! The sandstone walls were massive. Freehand art on the walls are still visible which is a reminder of how Aboriginal people have lived in Cania Gorge thousands of years ago.

Dripping Rock
Unfortunately, the camera's battery went flat just before we reached The Overhang but thanks to google i found a nice photo to show you guys how wonderful the view was in the park. Well actually what we saw there is worth more than meets the eye. So visit the park and see for yourself nature's wonder.

Do you think this is a big rock?

How about this?

Now how am i gonna get off from here?

Don't worry i managed to get off the giant rock without falling but it was tiring. It has been ages since i have done any exercise but surprisingly my legs were not that sore after a long walk and a bit of rock climbing. After touring the track we went to see the lake and the view was even more breathtaking and just looking at the calm water i forgot about my sore legs.

Cania Lake

a nice place for a family to have a picnic

Nice spot to park right? Except that the area wasn't wide enough for the
bus to turn around so we have to remove the trailer to get out the parking area.

a nice ski boat parked in the water
