Montville

Sunday the 16th of October was a nice fine day and we were heading to Lake Baroon then after to Montville to visit the town's market and some sightseeing. Montville was first settled in 1887 and is today known by some as the creative heart of the Sunshine Coast. It is only 102 kms north of Brisbane. "This charming village perched on the Blackall Range is home to a range of quality art galleries that exhibit, and sometimes produce, works of great interest to all art lovers. Shoppers also love the many craft shops, fashion boutiques and gift shops that exhibit a staggering range of affordable, locally made items."

At maleny we checked out the Maleny Cheese Factory and tasted some different and unusual farm fresh cheese. Some of them were very nice and others would be an aquired taste. We then headed off on the 14.6km drive to Montville but dropped by Lake Baroon half way to take photos of the lake. Its was a nice calm day and the view of the lake is so impressive I wanted to stay longer and do some fishing but the editor reminded me that we did not bring any fishing gear. Lake Baroon is formed by Baroon Pocket Dam, a dam constructed in 1988 on Obi Obi Creek, in South East Queensland. The two smaller creeks, Bridge Creek and Forbes Creek also provide inflows to the dam. It would be nice to have picnic here in the weekends or just drop by after a long busy day.

the view is sooo.... calming

a particularly liked this shop
When we reached Montville I felt like being transported somewhere in Europe. The shops and galleries were everywhere and the streets were busy it took us a while to find a spot to park. I thought I've seen this view before in a movie or documenary somewhere. Anyway, it is a popular tourist destination and being it a Sunday, the market and cafes were crowded but it was fun just doing some window shopping or just browsing the market with hundreds of people around.

See the camera crew? That was Better Homes and Gardens
covering the market for one of their episodes.

nice piece of art

Cool! Isn't it?

This clock store has amazing displays.

Guess how much these clocks cost?
